“I had not been playing flute or doing music of any kind for 3 years. I was at a different school than my undergrad, living in a new city, and besides my husband, I didn’t really know anyone... A friend got me involved with the HFC during the flute fest. Through that experience, I met flutists that I would learn from and that would help me get back to my passion for flute and music. I began playing in various flute choirs and other ensembles throughout Houston that were suggested to me by HFC members... I soon began my studies in the masters program at U of H. Had I not made those vital connections with members of the HFC, I don’t think my masters diploma would be hanging on my wall right now and I would certainly have missed out on the treasured friendships with flutists who share my love for music and flute.”
