Young Artist Competition

The competition is open to any flute player who is a member of the Houston Flute Club or is a student of a Houston Flute Club member. We welcome applications from flutists in Middle School and High School. Here are our guidelines:

Timeline

1. Preliminary Round: Monday, February 12, 2024 Online Audio Submission

2. Final Round: April 6, 2024 Live Performance at Flute Fest

Junior Division

1. J.S Bach: “Sarabande” from Partita for Solo Flute

2. Ivana Loudova: “Presto” from Suite for Solo Flute

Senior Division

C.P.E. Bach: “Poco Adagio” from Flute Sonata in A Minor

Pierre-Octave Ferroud: “Jade” from Trois Pièces pour Flûte

*Junior division students must be in grades 9 & under (no lower age limit) for the 2032-24 school year

**Senior division students must be in grades 12 & under (no lower age limit) for the 2023-24 school year

NOTE: All participants must be a current member of the HFC. If you are not a current member please go to the MEMBERSHIP page and join as a student membership.
